Working Progress Project:
Providing real support to those in need
Northamptonshire based Social Enterprise Goodwill Solutions Learning Academy CIC offers a range of practical help to help Commsortia as part of the £1.4 million Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project, helping disadvantaged groups of people back onto the path into employment.
We offer a package of pre-employment support to participants, including accessing CSCS Green cards, driving lessons, confidence building and mentoring, CV writing and life skills; all of which focuses on the needs of the individual to move them towards sustainable employment.
Who are our beneficiaries?
Anyone who is unemployed can take part, but we focus on those with additional barriers to work who often fall into these categories: Disabilities, Over 50’s, BAME Groups, (Ex-)Offenders, and long term unemployed.
How many people will take part?
We are aiming to support 82 people during the lifetime of the project.

The project officially started in October 2016 and is due to be completed by September 2019.

The project is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme and is funded by European Social Fund with match funding from Big Lottery.

Work Readiness Action Programme
Goodwill Solutions CIC is partnered with twelve Northamptonshire based organisations to deliver the Work Readiness Action Programme (WRAP), a £1.4 million Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project, engaging, supporting and helping people into employment. WRAP looks at the challenges people face, provides access to pre-employment programmes and reduces barriers to work through skills development and vocational training that help people gain the skills they need to find and keep a job.
This project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery, and commenced in August 2016. Through this project, Goodwill Solutions CIC and their partners aim to support over 1,000 people in the county on their journey towards employment by the end of July 2019.

We are currently looking for local providers in Northamptonshire who are currently working with groups facing the following barriers to join our Building Better Opportunities Work Readiness Action Programme.

The Building Better Opportunities brings together funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.
You must have experience in working with ESF Projects. Please do not apply if you haven’t.

Our Partner Network and Their Service Offering
Support for those looking for work that needs skills or some support to get a job. We support you if you are unemployed of any age and looking for work, an ex-offender, learning difficulties or you have minor health issues. We offer support with gaining office skills and entry level qualifications in the logistics and construction sectors, access to traineeships (19-24 year olds only), help with getting an ID, support to increase self-confidence, and numerous work focused and skills development programmes designed to help you become work ready and gain employment.
We have a track record of delivering Youth and community work across the Kettering and Corby areas, early intervention and prevention programmes for children, young people and their families to help them maintain quality of life, prevent problems getting worse and reduce the demand for specialist support service, an alternative learning provision to KS3/KS4 students to further enhance achievement potential, and information, support and counselling to promote emotional well-being.

The Green Patch is a 2.5 acre site situated on the edge of a housing estate in Kettering. Over the years the site has been improved by volunteers, and currently consists of a building, disabled access toilet, poly-tunnels, ducks and chickens, raised beds, compost and wildlife areas, beehives, natural play area, pond, orchard and summer house.
Accommodation Concern is the only dedicated, independent, anti-poverty, housing advice and homelessness organisation in North Northamptonshire. We operate at least seven advice surgeries each week, both drop-in and appointments. Our advice is free and impartial and our services continue to hold the Advice Quality Standard.
Service Six provide a wide variety of services for children, young people, adults, families & communities. Contracts and grant funding enables us to provide some free access to our services.
We work to relieve poverty and tackle the causes of homelessness in Northampton by giving people a hand up not a hand out.
Recognising that if you continually provide hand-outs there is no incentive to become self-sufficient, our work is focused on helping others to help themselves, providing support and services that will enable individuals to take back control of their own lives.
Aimhigher works with NEET young people and unemployed adults providing activities to support job-readiness and employability skills preparing them for their next career step or bringing them closer to the job-market.
Corby & Kettering Citizens Advice Services and Northampton Citizens Advice Services
We are a local Citizens Advice Charity serving the communities of Northamptonshire, offering free, impartial and confidential advice in a range of areas; including debt, welfare benefits, housing, employment, consumer and family and personal. Our service is open to all residents.
